Meet Dr. Andrew Tobon
Andrew Tobon, MD, is a highly-skilled, board-certified general urologist and urologic surgeon, and we are thrilled to have him here at Urologic Surgeons of Washington as of 2023. Dr. Tobon is dedicated, as we as a practice are, to seeing patients as soon as possible and offering the very best care and treatment options.
Education
Dr. Tobon’s resume boasts an impressive educational background, having attended Columbia University for his undergraduate work and then attended Baylor College of Medicine, where he received his medical degree. He completed both general surgery and urology residencies there as well. Between 1997 and 2018, he imparted his considerable clinical knowledge to medical students and residents as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Texas, San Antonio.
From 1997-2018, Dr. Tobon also practiced as a partner in a well-respected urology group in San Antonio, TX. After that, he moved to the DC area, where he was part of a local health system’s urology department for another four years.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Tobon specializes in treating several urologic diseases and conditions and has considerable experience in treating kidney stones and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and offers no-scalpel vasectomies.
He is also the co-medical director, along with Dr. Engel, of our unique urology urgent care practice that aims to give patients greater access to same-day specialized urologic treatment and skip the generic care that would otherwise be received at a traditional urgent care facility.
Dr. Tobon was born in Cali, Columbia, and immigrated to the United States at 11, becoming a citizen 12 years later. He is fluent in Spanish and takes advantage of his free time by spending it with family, reading, and cycling.
